With nearly 25 years in the healing arts, Dr. Lauren Costine began her work in LGBTQ+ mental health advocacy in 2000. She co-founded the nation’s first graduate-level LGBT Specialization in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University LA, authored the seminal book Lesbian Love Addiction (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015), and later launched with her wife, Awaken Therapy Center, an insurance-friendly, queer-affirming group practice in Los Angeles that blends depth psychology, trauma recovery, and holistic care. A sought-after keynote speaker, podcast host (The Consciousness Salon), and media expert (NPR, HuffPost, Psychology Today), Dr. Lauren fuses attachment theory, neuroscience, feminist theory, and spiritual wisdom to help lesbians and queer women dismantle internalized shame and reclaim authentic love.
